In high density living space inside your home is valuable. Having your own washing machine, and maybe tumble dryer, uses a lot of this space and is not cheap for something you only use once a week. For these reasons Time Square has an onsite commercial self-service pay-on-demand laundry available to all residents.
In 2019 Time Square upgraded the existing Laundry by purchasing brand new commercial Speed Queen machines.
The new stacked (washer bottom, dryer top) setup allows for much better usage of the space and even for future expansion should the demand require this.
The biggest change was the change from coins to electronic payments using credit/debit cards. This means residents no longer need to try source volumes of coins from the local shops who were not happy with residents asking for this all the time.
The Laundry has a CCTV Camera recording all activity 24/7.
The washing machines only do cold washes and none of the buttons have any affect at all.
Banks put limits on how many (about 6) of the same transactions can be done on one card per day to safeguard their customers.
Respect others washing.
Check all your clothes for items in pockets before washing them.
If a machine is finished but has not been emptied, use the provided black crates to respectfully place the finished washing in.
Clean the lint filter before and after using the tumble dryer.
Check the machine and door seals for items to ensure you don't leave that one sock behind.
Check the detergent drawer before leaving to make sure its clean for the next person.
Use liquid detergent as this does not leave a residue in the machine.
Pack and start the machine first and then quickly put the liquid in the drawer to prevent it from running down the drain while you pack in the clothing.
If your card starts being declined, try a different card or wait till the next day.
